Pedal powered juke box

Eat well, drink safely and lose weight at the Fayre.  Don't believe us?

As previous fayre-goers will know, there’s always live music to enjoy during the day.  This year visitors will be able to make their own music.

Thanks to a grant from Hepburn Wind Community Fund we will have a Future Spark power generation trailer on site.  How much power does it take to make music?  We’ll find out on the day when visitors climb on the bikes and pedal madly to make the jukebox rock.

Come to the Fayre – lots of regular producers, several new ones, great entertainment and cooking demos with Christine Lewis and Damian Sandercock.

Sunday 28 July, 10am- 4pm. Early bird tickets ($10) are available from the Glenlyon General Store and Daryl Wilson in Daylesford.

Golden oldies mix it with newcomers at the Fayre

It is said change is good – and this year’s Fayre sees quite a few changes amongst the food and wine producers.

There will be several new producers showcasing their wares at the Fayre.  Three of Glenlyon’s smallest food businesses -  Saffronopolis, Truly Madly Deeply and Glenlyon Preserves will join together with a pop-up stall.  Saffronopolis, as the eponymous name suggests, will have saffron on sale. How exciting is that? Saffron grown in Glenlyon.  Truly Madly Deeply is producing delicious sweet and savoury biscuits and the most delish ginger cake.  And visitors to the Glenlyon Village Market will know Glenlyon Preserves – seasonal fruits captured in gorgeous jams and jellies.

A decade after Carla and Ann-Marie launched their new Holy Goat cheeses at the Fayre, they return.  This year there’ll be an even greater variety of cheeses to taste and buy.

And given we live in the potato country it’s time spuds make an appearance at the Fayre.  Wonga Style Twisty Potatoes will tantalise your taste buds.

Unfortunately, a couple of regulars won’t be at the Fayre, because the weather caused cropping issues and they don’t have enough product to offer visiting gourmets.

Article on Fayre in Lost magazine

Great article about the Fayre in Lost magazine - thanks guys.  Pick up a copy around town or read it here.

Changes afoot*

This year's fayre looks like being quite different to previous fayres.  Some of our producers will not be on show as the past year has been pretty mucky growing-wise and as a result their stocks are low or non-existent.  So there won't be any delicious Henry of Harcourt Cider.

But there's good news - this year the goat girls at Sutton Grange Organic Farm are producing lots of winter milk. The real goaty-girls, not Carla and Ann-Marie!  C and A-M launched their Holy Goat Cheeses at the Glenlyon Fine Food and Wine Fayre in 2003 - and this year they are back.  That's wonderful news for fayre-goers.

And the * in the title?  Sort of a pun - the fayre co-ordinator recently fell and broke both feet (legs).

We're back on air - getting ready for this year's Fayre

Organising for the 15th Glenlyon Fine Food and Wine Fayre is in swing and already we have over 20 producers lined up.

This year's Fayre will be held Sunday 28 July at the Glenlyon Shire Hall.

There's been quite a change to the line up of producers - some have closed their businesses, some have expanded, some are on winter hols and some are new.
